Between July 1 and 14, members of the Australian Progressives voted in our third annual National Executive election. This year, there were 5 vacancies, and 6 candidates. Candidates were required to secure the support of 2 nominating members of the party, and asked to provide a statement to speak to their nomination. Turnout for the election was 12.7%, a record for an internal election, and almost twice the turnout of the 2018 Party Presidential Election. The Australian Progressives have completed a submission to the office of the Attorney General, the Hon. Christian Porter in reference to the Religious Discrimination Bill.
The submission details our specific opposition to parts of the bill and recommendations to the Attorney General in relation to amendments we wish to see.
